Talent Quest 2022

WHAT IS TALENT QUEST?

Talent Quest is an opportunity to showcase new and upcoming talent on GBF’s Twitch channel to a global audience. Participants will be evaluated on their stream presence during the audition phase and 16 finalists will be selected to play during the GBF Talent Quest Streaming Event on GBF’s Twitch channel. Finalists will be evaluated and the top DJs will be invited to play a set at GBF’s next major event!

WHO SHOULD APPLY?

If you’re a streamer of any genre of electronic music, please feel free to apply! We’re going beyond breakbeat for this event and we encourage DJs of all electronic music
sub-genres to apply. If you think you have what it takes to wow our audience, we want you to apply! This is your opportunity to play to a large global audience for one of Twitch’s biggest Raid Train events.
 

APPLICATION PROCESS 

1. Applicants will complete this form here: Sign-up Form. During the sign-up period as noted in the KEY DATES section below. No applications will be accepted after the end of the sign-up period; no exceptions will be made. 

2. Applicants must join the GBF Discord Server. Discord Server

3. Application forms and Discord will be checked daily. Steps 1 and 2 must be completed to be eligible for selection. Eligible applicants will be notified via email and granted access to sign-up for an Audition Stream Slot on the GBF Discord. There will be 50, one hour-long time slots available over a 48-hour period on a first come first serve basis.

4. Round 1: Auditions will take place over a 48-hour period starting August 12th at 4AM UTC and ending August 14th at 3AM UTC. Each participant will stream from their own Twitch channel and will be visited by our GBF Talent Scouts who will decide which Artists are selected as finalists to participate in the GBF Talent Quest Raid Train event. 

5. Finalists will be notified if they are selected to participate in the Round 2: Talent Quest Streaming Event via email within 3 days after their audition. 

6. Finalists will get a one-hour time slot during the Round 2: Talent Quest Streaming Event which will take place on Friday, August 26th at 2:00 PM UTC to Saturday August 27th at 5:00 AM UTC or Day 2: Saturday, August 27th at 2:00 PM UTC to Sunday, August 28th at 5AM UTC. 

7. Instructions will be provided to finalists, which will include information on how to stream to the GBF Channel and will also include digital assets (stream overlays, logos, etc.) that will be required for use on their stream during the event.

8. All finalists must complete a technical readiness check prior to the event and demonstrate the use of assets provided (stream overlays, logos, etc.) that will be required to be displayed on stream during the event.

9. The Round 2: Talent Quest Streaming Event will take place on Friday, August 26th at 2:00 PM UTC to Saturday August 27th at 5:00 AM UTC and Day 2: Saturday, August 27th at 2:00 PM UTC to Sunday, August 28th at 5AM UTC. During finalist’s one hour stream, they will be evaluated by GBF Talent Scouts, guest judges and the audience.

10. The GBF Talent Quest Streaming Event award winners will be invited to play a set during a major GBF Collective event! 

 

KEY DATES

By signing up you understand that you must be available to DJ live during the following dates in order to participate in the event. If you are unable to attend the event during the time frames listed, you forfeit your position within the event and will be replaced by another participant. No video submissions will be accepted for auditions for this event. 

 

• SIGN-UP PERIOD: 

  • Friday July 15th at 4:00AM UTC to Saturday July 30th at 4:00AM UTC or until we fill 50 slots

  • Sign-ups will occur on a first come first serve basis. Once slots are filled, the sign-up period will end

 

• ROUND 1: AUDITIONS: 

  • Auditions will last 48 hours starting Thursday, August 12th at 4AM UTC and end Sunday, August 14th at 3AM UTC. 

 

• ROUND 2: TALENT QUEST STREAMING EVENT: 

  • Day 1: Friday, August 26th at 2:00 PM UTC to Saturday August 27th at 5:00 AM UTC

  • Day 2: Saturday, August 27th at 2:00 PM UTC to Sunday, August 28th at 5:00 AM UTC

 

AGREEMENTS

By signing up to the event you acknowledge and agree to: 

1. The use of your DJ name and logo for use on all event promotional material including flyers, social media posts, and merchandise

2. You adhere to the minimum requirements for the event: 

   1. You must have streamed music on Twitch at least once in the past

   2. You haven’t played at a previous GBF Collective event (Global Breaks Festival 1-4) 

   3. You were not a top 6 finalist from GBF Talent Quest 1 

3. You agree to display all GBF assets (stream overlays, logos, etc.) during your stream while streaming during the Round 2: GBF Talent Quest event. GBF assets will not be provided or required to be displayed during Round 1: Auditions.

4. You agree to adhere to follow all existing Twitch Community Guidelines.

 

HOW FINALISTS WILL BE CHOSEN 
 

ROUND 1: AUDITIONS

50 contestants will be chosen based on a first come first serve basis

16 finalists will be chosen to move onto round 2 

 

Several talent scouts will be selected and join your stream during a designated time. They will fill out a form to evaluate your overall stream presence. You’ll be evaluated based on your overall stream presence. Finalists will be notified if they are selected to move onto Round 2.

4. Music Selection

5. Technical Ability

6. Stream to Chat Engagement

7. Chat Energy

8. Mod Capability

9. Twitch Channel Navigation / Appearance / Bio / Panels

10. Camera Angles

11. Aesthetics and or Visuals

12. Chat to Chat engagement (Including commands, etc.) 

 

ROUND 2: TALENT QUEST 2 STREAMING EVENT

The finalists will be evaluated based on the same criteria as Round 1. A selection of finalists will receive awards based on the opinions of our GBF Talent Scouts, Guest Judges and by audience vote.  

 

Award winners will receive a GBF Merch pack and will be invited to play major GBF events.
